If you are using SolidWorks, the later versions haev CosmosLite inbuilt.

But a couple of bits of advice, free FEA software may not be very good (ie some only let you do parts or beam calcs, not assemblies). And if you are doing a chassis, then you may want to use a very good (ie expensive) package.

And the second bit of advice, FEA software is not an easy bit of kit to just have a dabble with. Someone stressing out a chassis will probably need a lot of experience. And note, i mean Software AND chassis deisgn experience. It is not a case of modelling a chassis, hitting GO and then getting a list of results and design changes needed.

Hi
Have you looked at Grape Software at http://www.grapesoftware.mb.ca

I have had a brief look at it but can't work out how to insert panels like the floor etc. Anybody have any ideas?

Hi,

Cheers for the tips,
I downloaded the Grape software and will get a chance to mess with it over christmas.

Im only building this for fun and for the experience hopefully the software will help me but i dont need the design to be perfect.
