Speculative Quotes
Hi,
Is there anywhere where you can get an insurance quote (or a rough guide from insaurance group) without having to agree for your name and address to
be held for mailshot use?
They tend to get round the DPact by saying you dont have to ask for a quote but I would like to know how much insaurance id be paying before seriously
considering a car.

I usually just make a name up.
I still get mail shots to Mr Bhume Hole once a year.

An ex-postal worker once told me that if you get unsolicited mail, write on the envelope "Refused" and blank out your address. The PO then
have to return it to the sender (if there is a return address) who then gets charged again for sending it out. They soon stop sending them...

Or gather all your junk mail up in one big envelope and post it back to the company who sends it the most, or who leaves a return address! Dont put a
stamp on it, then they will have to pay for all the crap they send you.
Unless they never claim it, which is likely.

I used to work in a box office and we had a lot that was returned with the word "Moved" on. we did process it but i know alot of people
dont.
I will check out the refused trick. or at least return it without a stamp...
I know its a contradiction but there must be an ethical insaurer, or a guide. They can produce one for cars with the variations with those (ie
glass's, parkers etc). suprised someone cant do a rough one with adjustments. I really just want to find out if i can afford a certain
insaurance group 20 car!!!

How about an online quote from someone like elephant, but use your neighbours house number! Just make sure you dont use your real name!

Call any company, ask for a quote and tell them to remove all your details from any mailing system - they HAVE to do this as part of the Data
Protection Act.
