PayPal wanna pay me £4,500!?!?!?!
This is odd, i get an email this morning saying
"Dear Andrew West,
We are sending you this notice because you have received more than 4,500.00
GBP in total payments to your PayPal account.
PayPal is required by law to comply with European Union Anti-Money
Laundering regulations to collect information from customers when they
receive more than the set limit in total payments. Please log into your
account, go to the Account Overview page, and follow the instructions there
about how to provide the required information. These steps need to be
completed as soon as possible to comply with this regulation. " etc
So i check my account as i recon it's a fraudulent email and i get the same message when logging in so i'm guessing it must be real!! I
check my account and there is no £4,500 there but i need to take steps to receive it.
Now do we recon it's money laundering? I'm thinking that they pay me and then get it back through PayPal.
They have given me a UK phone number to ring so i think i'll cancell the payment unless they can tell me who it's from.
Another idea is to accept it and then close the account!!

Read the email properly and stop being so excited.
You have received more than £4500 IN TOTAL PAYMENTS
That means since you started your PayPal account, not a single payment has just happened.
I went through this about 4 years ago. All totally above board and legit.
Sorry to burst your bubble.

Did you use the Paypal link they gave you? As I think from what I have read previouisly that that is part of the scam if it is one?

it's not a con - they will require more details from you after £4500 received. This message will also show up on your account after logging in
to paypal

I'd still be couscous as it must be a well known fact that this happens and someone may be playing to that and putting out requests for account
details...
Then again I might just be too suspicious.

i had one exactly the same on Sunday. I thought it was a scam so i called paypal and it was genuine. you have to follow a link from your account once
you are logged in to resolve the issue. i think they take a quid from your credit card, then when you get the credit card statement there will be a
four digit number to refer to . once you have this you enter the number into your paypal account and the issue is resolved and they give you your quid
back.
seems a bit long winded but thats what they told me to do
