is china not still communist?
that doesnt look like the ideal communists hotel, like should the hotel not be plain and boring and drab and you would have to work for your nights sleep?

The buggers are making me stay here
Ive just booked this for my last night, dont know how i will cope!!

http://marriott.com/property/propertypage/SHAJW

I was talking to a Mate who has said Nanjing road is one of the main centre areas in Shanghai.

Yew Gardens market area is apparently THE place to go for DVD's watches etc.

Ive also been told to try New heights restaurant and Red Leaf pub.

My first stop is Mianyang, hotel here isnt so good. Then Hangzhou, hotel is first rate followed by top Marriott where ive booked executive floor deluxe room. Even has complimentary cocktails and hors d'oevres!!!! Tres Posh.

I stayed in the Sofitel Capsis in Ixia (Rhodes). It was a palace. I hope the drinks are being paid for by your company

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

Oh I stayed there in 2005. Very nice hotel I was on a floor way up high and it's far more than £30/night - but much better than the Hilton where I stayed last year which is about the same price. The bill for 2 nights in the Sofitel in Shanghai was about the same as two weeks in Xiangfan.

Be aware that its very expensive for food and drinks on the top floor.

Myself and Jon are looking at a new chassis and carbon bodywork manufacturer . There are also some good bulk buy options. Weve recently secured a warehouse in uK that can take 6 containers worth of goods at one time. Watch this space for details...

Also just located a supplier of casings that can take 2 bike engines to form V8's on a budget as a kit.

Only joking of course. Nothing as so exotic. I work for a Chinese Automotive components manufacturer so going over to hold some Project Management reviews.

Had an email this morning and apparently it's cleared customs now. So it looks like I will probably be in Shanghai on the nights of the 4th and 14th Feb. Also likely to be flying Virgin but up the front

If you go to the "RED LIPS" bar across the road, watch out for the ladies. Talk to them and you'll get a hefty bill!!

The Tempanyaki Restaurant (not sure of spelling) is great. All you can eat and drink for about a tenner. Everything is done on a griddle in front of you. Great food, but best done with a few others.

Regards, Ian.
