Oriental Pearl Tower - Shanghai

The other notable part of the trip was visitting the Oriental Pearl Tower in Shanghai. The views at 350m were spectacular at night. Blackpool tower is only 160m and i thought that was high!

Even our hotel lobby was high on the 38th floor.

The other amazing part of the trip was at Yu Gardens. We were taken to a very dingy back street area by a woman we didnt know to view some interesting shopping items (watches etc). Quite a worrying experience all told.

Shanghai is an amazing place to visit and defo worth doing if you ever get the chance. I cant wait to go back sometime. I enjoyed it better than Hong Kong.

Sounds like a great trip Darren - are you there on holiday or with work?

Had a similar experience with the backstreet vendors in Bangkok. I felt quite lucky to get out without being relieved of any cash or other possesions

It was a work trip, Just managed to get a free day on the Saturday this time and as we were flying from Shanghai it made sense to get there a day early and save a silly o'clock start on Sunday.

I bet your experience in Bangkok was just like ours. I was shaking after that experience for a while after. Partly at what we had seen and partly at what could have happened. Dont know if id like to repeat it.

Sofitel Pudong I think the same as you. have been with someone here and tonight had dinner with one of the directors of where I work.

In theory going tomorrow - flying to Wuhan then by road to xiangfan. If you see two english blokes with about 7 cases and 160kgs of equipment in the lobby at 830ish that'll be me.

Poor form I know...my apologies but didn't have much spare time at all in the evening and wasn't expecting to be there a 2nd night or having to have dinner with the engineering director.

Now in Xiangfan and its bloomin cold out. Was expectign maybe 3 or 4 engineers from the customer - turned up and there are 11 of them. They were then taking photos of everything including us changing tyres and balancing wheels!
