finding the owner of a car

someone a while ago posted a website that you could put a car reg no in and find out more details for free, please can somone point me in the correct direction

marc the only thing you will find is make and colour and when it last changed hands

DVLA website is more up to date, but you need to know the manufacturer before it will let you see.

Edit: and one more thing, if you have a good reason the dvla can be persuaded to let you know the name and address of the owner. A list of kind of good reasons acceptable is here:
