iPod in Caravan??
Hi All
We've just bought a caravan (no jokes please!) and am trying to find the best way of fitting my iPod. The caravan has no radio fitted and
I'm not really bothered in fitting one - just want the iPod. I can get access to a 12v supply, 240v is a lot more difficult where I'd like
to put the iPod and docking station / speakers.
I have a Kensington docking station which uses a mains transformer to produce 12v dc so I did think of trying to ue this but it still needs an
amp/speakers.
I've got a TV/DVD combo which has AV inputs and I thought about just plugging the iPod straight into the phono jacks but the tv will only play
the sound when it has a video signal as well.
Any thoughts / solutions?
Wyn

if i was you, id just fit an inverter and use a 240v docking station. There might be elegant solutions to avoid the inverter, but im guessing thats
the simplest.

Inverters are not very efficent - I would fit a head unit somewhere and use the iPod transmitter to provide good quality stereo to the head unit.

When thinking outside the box doesn't work any more, it's time to build a new box

Kind of depends on budget. There is a very nice valve amp available for ipod with about 14 watts per channel output, that and a couple of good
speakers will give really cool hi fi the amp is about £200. There are a lot of cheap inverters around that will work for any mains set up. I have an
iPod with a radio transmitter thing that is good if you have a radio. IMHO use the caravan battery or land mains otherwise you will have problems
with running out of power just when you are getting warmed up

PS just to confirm I DON'T have a caravan however I do have a Land Rover Carawagon, very cool IMHO

Aa Ray said, id fit a head unit somewhere and run the ipod through that., I think itl be much better at running on 12v. Theres a nice kenwood one
on offer in wilco at the minute thats ipod ready then 20 quid fro the remote job done.
