Problem with micra
One of my friends has a micra which has been playing up. It has been cutting out at idle.
She took it into the garage and they said it was the throttle body (after they cleaned it the car would no longer start)
They are saying that she needs a whole new throttle body!!! Sounds like madness to me but what do you think??
Thanks for the help (it is almost a locost.)

just read this:
Nissan Micra throttle bodies are one of BBA reman's top selling components. Nearly all engine related problems for K11 Nissan Micra's are
caused by the throttle body. For this reason a throttle body can be supplied on a test hire basis if required.
Common symptons of a failing throttle bodies include:
-poor drive-ability
-poor idling
-cutting out under power
In extreme cases the faulty throttle body can bring the engine manegement light on.
These throttle bodies are available next day delivery. All we need to know is whether the car is automatic or manual. Call today for price - (+44)
(0)1634 230055.
sounds like they may be right! Bugger that is going to be a big bill!

pity it does not say what exactly is wrong with them.
only thing I can think of is that there is play on the shaft causing the butterfly to move around.

Sounds like a serious design fault. You would think a recall would be in order.
Anybody know exactly what the fault is with the TB?
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Yup. Got a K11 Micra myself. Idles like a byatch till it gets warmed up a bit.... Until then it cuts out when you lift off, judders under load etc
etc...
You can always teach her to heal + toe which is what I do (in a Micra!! LOL).... Works a treat. Once the temperature is above minimum on the gauge it
tends to look after itself....
New TB is the usual cure though....

that is what she has been doing so far but then they "cleaned" it and it is buggered!
What a pain. They are putting in a second hand one... We will see how long it lasts!
