McLaren M6 replica?
I just noticed this one is for sale:
http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/93661.htm
It must be a Manta Mirage, Montage or something? I've looked for information on any replicas but found hardly anything, I don't even know
if these Mantas have a square tube steel spaceframe or ladderframe, or what sort of weight and track they have.
Also I was wondering what the choice is for similar cars which are:
-Not ultra-expensive (i.e. not Ultima, Saker, Factory Five, Gardner Douglas, Minotaur)
-Small block chevy V8 or as mighty, mid mounted
-Full cabin
-Road legal
I.e. say a poor's man Ultima GTR if you like.
A while ago I opened a related thread but we missed this Manta thing:

Opinions please?
Cheers,
Alex

I'm a big fan of the Lola T70 mk1 looks but the Original M6 looks very nice too..
The replica doesn't quite match the looks unfortunately, but it still looks quite fine..

Might be one of the Tornado replicas
Stick "Tornado McLaren M6 GTR" into google and it will find a bunch of information.
Like this http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/mclarens.htm for example.

Probably a UVA in which case IIRC it's based on a beetle floorpan!!! Or certainly VW running gear - shoul be interesting with about 450
Neddies in the back!!
I take it thats why these don't make much money, if it's got a proper spaceframe & decent running gear then it's a total
bargain.
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

Thank you guys. The seller just told me it's actually a Tornado:
http://www.tornadosportscars.com/CoProfile/CoProfile.html
So square tube steel spaceframe, Chevy V8 (ad says 440 bhp).
Pretty cheap for what it is I think.

David,
Thanks for those links.
The first one is a UVA, so Rover V8 which I don't like for this kind of monster (I like it for lighter cars like the Fury V8).
The second one is the auction for the car being advertised in PH!
The third one doesn't have a cabin, not the kind of thing I'm looking for just now..
Cheers,
Alex

That very car is advertised here:
http://www.race-cars.com/carsales/mclaren/1161282098/1161282098ss.htm
It's a 3.5 litre Rover V8 and they are asking €35k. As I said, the price for the one in PH is quite good.
Cheers,
Alex
