O/T VW Oil service Reset

I no longer want to have to fork out for VW servicing as I'm capable of doing the work on my Passat. However, the service reminder is driving me nuts.

Does anyone in the Gloucestershire / Worcestershire area have one of these reset tools I could borrow briefly to do the reset?

Check your service book/manual, on my Bora tdi you can reset it by using the buttons on the dash in a sequence with turning igntion on/off - this is as long as you're using the 'fixed (ie 10k) mileage' servicing rather than the variable 'long life' one.

beware, I've got yellow skin

is the car on longlife servicing or yearly? If yearly you can reset the indicator via the dash. Let me know what the model is and I'll get the instructions.

If longlife it can only be done via Vagcom.

It's on the longlife, I think, suddenly I am unsure.

Nope pretty certain it's on the longlife. I've seen the little boxes you can buy on ebay etc would these be no good ?

I reset mine last year on my TDI Passat using a sequence described in the hand book, and it hasnt came back on yet so maybe you only need to reset once. Im not sure if they are on a timer or go by mileage though. That reminds me, its due for another service really! Just look through the handbook and it will be in there.

if it has the service warning coming up in a red panel between the clocks, it will need to be reset using diag equipment, if not, hold down the trip reset button for ten seconds while turning ign on, then release, then turn clock button, press trip button again, then ign off, that should reset it.

this is one of the plus points of owning an old micra, there is none of that sort of crap to worry about.

its much simplier, is it going to break down or not? but seriously i wouldn't change the car for the world its so simple!

sorry this isn't helping you at all.......
