Filling up with petrol - or not!
Hello
Im havin probs filling up my Vauxhall Cav with fuel. Been an ongoing prob since i bought it. Basically i can only put about 50p of petrol in at the
pump before the filler neck is full of fuel and stops the pump. Then i have to let it drain before i can put more in. I can use the trigger on the
pump more lightly to get a continuous flow of fuel but it takes ages to fill up! Ive taken the filler neck to bits and cant see any blockages in any
of the hoses so why the hell is it doing it!??? Ive tried all the usual turning the pump round and using different petrol stations but no joy in 3
months! Its driving me mental! Any ideas??
Cheers in advance!

I there some sort of non return valve or filler nozzle flap in the filler pipe that's getting stuck?
Ned.

Same problem on almost all Cavs(I had it on my old SRi). Try rotating the nozzle slightly and start off with very low flow and build up.
It's just the frothing of the fuel that hits the safety cut out, you can overcome it with rotating the nozzle - I seem to remember that on mine
I angled the trigger towards the rear bumper, but still pointing down around 30-45 degrees.
Try searching on www.vxon.co.uk

fully insert the nozzle, but then bring it back out about 2". let the handle drop too, so the nozzle aims at the top of the filler neck.
angling it slightly towards the back of the car helps, but not always. depends on the pump it seems. i can usually manage about 3/4 full open on the
pump.
been driving the cav for about 3 years now, but it's just something you'll sort of pick up.
if you're building a 7 style with rear panel filler, you'll have far far worse problems with filling than you'll ever have with the
cav, so think yourself lucky
