thanks for your thoughts, but I;m still Here, you don;t get rid of me that easily!!!!!!!!!!!

the water got to to within a foot of the front (and more importantley garage!) door.

but we were very,very lucky

2 streets down are up to their waist in water right through the house, some of the tintops were up to the bottom of the windows in water!!!

problem is now the river is supposed to burst its banks any time, if it does i;m pretty sure i won;t get away with it next time.

just trying to get hold of a petrol powered high volume pump now, so if it does get back we can pump from the street into the drainage dyke.

more rain forecast for sat/sun so as they say, its not over till the fat lady sings!!!!

Sunny Hull

Hi fella's
Here in Hull where I live the water has receded today.
I spent until 2 am this morning pumping water out of the terrace and from under the floors of my nieghbours houses.
Where Ray ward live they have had it worse, the water round there (Kingswood estate ) was still rising even today.
needless to say all carpets and floor coverings in my place have had it so it looks like car build time will be restricted for a while.
All the best to Ray.and thanks for the offers of help.
Regards Kipper.

Excuse my ignorance but doesn't the flooding happen yearly? Don't take this the wrong way but is there no way to prepare for a flood? I've seen houses in York, Hull and around where I live near Southampton that have floodgates on their front wall. I saw a guy on the news that has been flooded 5 times!!! You'd think after the third time he'd have installed some sort of protection? Or can't you?

I hope the river holds and keeps the car dry!

Floods in Hull

We have a saying round here for something that rarely or never happens.
It is one's every Sheffield flood??????
Sheffield has had some very bad flooding so the weather we experienced which caused the flooding in Hull was very rare.
I have lived in central Hull 20 years and have never experienced weather like we had monday, and I hope we never see the likes again.
Regards kipper.
