Strange whining noise

Last tuesday i was driving through lewes in my van and i noticed a strange, engine speed related, whining noise. It got worse during the day so i took it to our local garage who thought it was a bearing on the auxillary belt going.
They had it in for a day last week and said they couldnt find anything wrong and told me to keep using it until it gets worse.
Does anyone know what it could be? Its an 04 transit connect freezer van done 55k

ps also had the freezer unit serviced so nothing to do with that

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

I'm pretty sure there's a known issue with the Dual Mass Flywheels on the Connects (which would be engine related).

Try searching the net for its symptoms etc.

A speed related whining noise, is usually the mother in law!

Tell them about the bent treacle edges!
