Is someone going to do a mock up of 'the book' along the lines of "Build your own Spitfire for £250 and bomb Germany with it"
?

Very nice - VFR only, which is a pain though.

A mate of mine I was a school with is actually starting a project to build up a real spit. He was REALLY techie - built computers before anyone had
every heard of them, cast parts for race bikes in aluminum while still at school etc
He seems to have done okay with some companies he started. He has build up aworkshop, acquired machine tools, and found a group of old aircraft techs
to help him. Now he recons he he just needs the "starter kit" and he can start.
He is researching things like a crashed spitfire that was recently dragged out of a marsh in France etc.
He recons it will cost a mint to start and finish the build but once done the result is worth a lot more than you have to put in.
Cheers
