OT Precision bearings...Bike frame

Off toppic, but someone may know...

The sealed cartidge bearings on my mountain bike frame are nolonger sealed and rattle around like crazy...

I would quite like to replace the bearings with identically sized selaed units that are good quality...

I can order an exact replacement from the manufacturor, but they will take weeks to get here and cost nearly £50 for a complete set of 6 bearings...

Is there a company in the UK that can supply suitable bearings?

What kind of bearings do I ask for?

Plenty of bearing suppliers, you just need to know the sizes/numbers.

Try here.

The ones to have are the rubber/neoprene sealed ones.

Is this a standard bike or a posher one?

You can get most BB (as there known) off ebay or somewhere like wiggle.

Just make sure the width is right as they come in various widths and whether they're square or octagon/splined.

Pat...

Ive usually found it better to just get a new complete cartridge for my bmx. Bit more pricey but you know that they wont go wrong at speed.

Its an '04 Specialized Enduro...

The bearings are for the rear swingarm so are subject to shock loads..

Take the bearing to the local suppliers and ask for their equivalent.

I've always found BSL (Bearing Services LTD) to be very helpful and good on price for this type of thing. Pedal and headset cartridge bearings etc.
