PT Cruiser --- any experiences.
I am looking around planning what to replace my much loved Rover 75 with, and I can't see anything I fancy. The Toyota Avensis almost cuts it
but not quite and extra premium for a Lexus is far too much.
I won't buy a BMW on principle and all 4x4s are out as is a Jag (If I wanted a Sierra I woulf buy a Sierra !),
Honda totally revamp models to often and the current crop look awful.
GM, Renualt, Nissan and Fiat aren't worth considering.
That dosen't leave much -- VW, Volvo (OK its a Ford), Mazda a 2ndhand Merc and the PT cruiser.
At the moment the PT Cruiser is fave --- not a rational choice and I know the interior has bits of trim that look like they came from a 1970 Chrysler
180 but it is different.

It's only my opinion, but I don't rate the PT Cruiser thing at all. Back end looks like a london taxi.
I know someone though who has the convertible and he thinks it's great, but he does look like a gay when he's driving round in it.
I'd probably have a look at a passat.

Again my opinion but ALL Chryslers are built like poo which is a shame cos they do look nice especially the PT. The Toyota is a very reliable car but
looks like the designer was having a very very dull boring day. I think they look kak!
VW do a 140bhp and a 170 bhp Golf deisel which are really good. I drove the 140bhp version and it made me feel 17 again. LOADS of torque, it was
great! It's probably what we are going to get next but hopefully the 170bhp jobby.

We are Mopar approved at work and repair PT's regularly, fully agree with the above.
The electrics are very hit and miss, usually miss, switch gear on the column will need replacing every 2 years (£108), the bodywork has the feel of
those cheap tin toys from Poland when we were kids, and parts are extortionate, eg a door mirror is £750 fitted - serious bad move!
If you can keep you head, whilst all others around you are losing theirs, you are not fully aware of the situation

i have heard that parts are stupidly expensive, and i cant imagine a chrystler being too reliable either, not to mention crap on fuel
all in all its a typical american car,
dont do it !!!

three of my relatives have reasonably new BMW's and tbh considering there supposed to be the best cars out there how theyve pulled that one off
i dont know
yes the diesel engine is powerful in them
they never actually brake down however the amount of sensors they have that regularly fail and bring warning lights on etc is unbelievable especially
when you find the cost of said sensor!!!
I would get a VRS skoda
or a Rover/MG again if thats your left options

Dont start me on BMW's... had one NEVER again, biggest pile of sh!t on the roads. THE most popular car on the hardshoulders ATM.
I have had a Skoda Oct VRS - wicked wicked car, well built and reliable. Now have another but not VRS - do the job very well. If it was my choice I
would not have one as they are ugly. But 140bhp engine is a belter. I'm getting the Seat Leon FR 170bhp next (if they let me) mainly due to
engine but looks are none to shabby.
Back the original PT - build quality is RUBBISH!! Shape is "choice" but I know what you mean BT - you want something that looks like it
wasn't from a Euro Jellymould... good luck!

I had one on holiday for the first 2 or 3 days.
It was most unremarkable. I couldn't wait to get rid if it as I found it a bit embarrasing.
I was much happier with the Charger that replaced it

£600 for a new wing mirror - must be carbon fibre with unobtanium mounting hardware!

The old part that gave any trouble on the Rover (the fuel filter assembly) came straight from the BMW 3 series parts bin.

Strange, that's also a popular failure part on the ZT260, which I'm very reluctantly thinking of parting with
Looked at the Espace (and would've looked at Galaxy if shop had one!!!) last weekend, but just can't get away from the thoughts I had
about the last french car we owned!
Might have to think Toyota as well!

Erm, hardly....it's built in Mexico I believe just down the road from the VW plant...
Not denying Chrysler's less than stellar reliability etc....but it's miles away from a typical US car...

If you aren't a badge snob then you could do a lot worse than take a look at Skodas.
Alternatively, how about something from Sweden? No, not a nubile young blond, one of their supremely reliable barges
