espace vibration problem

Hi all, anyone work for Renault?

I have a 2004 espace 1.9dci. It has developed a wobble/vibration when accelerating or under load from 45-55mph, not through the steering wheel but the whole car seems to be shaking side to side quite noticeably. Bit like a wheel imbalance but only when under load...doesn't do it when cruising/decelerating from 55-45mph.

I'm thinking engine mount or driveshaft or something? It isn't affected by engine rpm, only roadspeed, so i've discounted the flywheel/clutch.

Any ideas/suggestions?

Rich.

My experience with renaults dates back a long long time but what you describe sounds like a drive shaft failure possibly the CVJ breaking up! This used to happen depressingly regularly on the 16TS, 15TS and 18TS I owned in the 70s and early 80s ( I did say it was a long time ago!)
