PAYG Insurance

I have recieved from norwich union a flyer/leaflet regaeding pay as you go insurance. Basically reading it you pay for the time and types of roads you are on. It involves a tracking gps device being fitted to your car and at first looks for me with a car that does less than 6k a year it MIGHT be a good idea BUT

I'm concerned about how things may pan out.
i.e.
If say you were nipping on (yeh yeh we all do it) and you had an off and a claim then in theory would they be able to say " sorry mate you were speeding therfore breaking the law and all insurance is null and void"

Likewise if it could be proven that you were at work for say 12hrs and then carried out a 12hr drive and had an off would that be reasonable grounds for not paying out? could be more than one driver granted but how would they/you prove it?
Or is it all just a big brother state?

Has anyone got this or experience of it?
DISCUSS.

My GPS is hardly reliable. What about if it was fitted and you accidently blew the fuse and didn't replace?

Personally it would need to be a fairly large saving for me to consider it.

Incidently When there are two roads parrallel to each other my gps occasionaly gets it wrong.

Who pays for the GPS installation? Is it part of the contract, like a phone?

Do you not pay if you only drive through tunnels??

Apparently it's a free installation. I did an online quote and it was only £4 a month cheaper than my current policy.

In my opinion the government will soon start to push this type of thing, because they'll be able to utilise it for road charging and all manner of other things.

RESIST AT ALL COSTS!!!

Pretty soon every new car will have GPS tracking as standard --- big brother or what ?

The goverment and insurances companies particularly NU are trying to sneak it in under the radar.

From personal experience if you are insured with NU try getting a quote for your next renewal via the postoffice web site, in my case they come back with a quote from NU wayl below what NU quote for renewal.
