Can't believe it's strong enough for the road, especially considering how hot brakes can get.
Cleaning off the brake dust would be a nightmare, wouldn't it?

Totally impractical imo. Lack of heat transfer and brake dust cleaning come to mind.
Surely just a bit of publicity bling.

Most F1 cars have enclosed brakes with forced air cooling ducted from air scoops on the bodywork. This allows the amount of air flowing over the
brakes to be regulated so they stay at the optimum operating temperature
