Tigra head gasket woes Pt2. Does this need welding up?
To anyone who saw the thread from a couple of days ago, I couldn't give up in the end.
I finally got it off after looking around an engine out of the car at a Vauxhall breakers (Allvox - highly recommended).
Does this need welding? There is a lot of corrosion on this cylinder and a bit of the next one but the rest seem ok.
Picture in archive as I am not getting the attach picture option for some reason.
Thanks, David.

Welding the head can be expensive, looking at your's were it is damaged I dont think it can be welded (due to oil / water ways). If I was you
I'd look for a second hand head. Is it 1.4 injection engine?

UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

1.6. There is quite a lot of meat beneath the corrosion which does not show in the photo. FUBAR you think - oh no its gets worse.

If theres a bit of meat there, they can weld it, then grind it and re-weld it, I'd get a price before you get work done, I got a SRI corsa head
welded once, it cost me £280, would have been safer getting a second hand engine. good luck with the repair, but get prices first.

Here it is
Rotten head
As per previous posts, your best bet is to get it down to a GOOD Cylinder head workshop and let them have a look, they will have done lots of them so
they will know what and where the weak spots are and will advise you accordingly. I have seen a lot worse repaired. Let the moral of this story be
that you should always have a good anti freeze mix in an engine with alloy head(s) and or block.
Hope this helps.
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Still not letting me attach photos - thanks for the help. Makes the thread much more pleasant for everyone to see.
I thought I did have decent anti freeze,it is still quite clean but it is probably 5 years old now. How time flies.
