astra diesel van help needed
hi ive got a astra van but the rad has stoped coming on and its over heating.
ive checked the fan and it works. theres a sensor with one wire i think its the temp gauge. and a sensor with two wires next to the this sensor i dont
no what this is for but i jumped the wires and it didnt do anything and theres a sensor on the rad if i jump the wire on the rad the fan comes on. do
you no what the sensors are for and how i could simulate the water getting warm so i could see what sensors have gone.

single wire sensor is for the gauge the other is linked to the glow plug system if i recall correctly to turn the plugs on for a shorter time with a
hot engine etc the rad switch is as you say for the cooling fan and if bridgeing the wires together makes it work then change the fan swicth. very
common fault

A pint for the gent and a white wine/fruit based drink for the lady. Those are the rules

If a new switch doesn't cure the problem get the rad flow tested by a radiator specialist. Not uncommon for rad to be blocked internally
