don't write OT on a new thread title, you're creating the topic, everything you write is very much ON topic!

Quote:
The "catastrophic disintegration" of the jet car's front tyre was probably caused by an object like a nail, a BBC report has
concluded.
Surely they could spot a 'nail like' object in the tyre.
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

depends if it was in the tyre before the started . if it got in part way down the track ........ it could be in the next county the way it
disintegrated.

Interestingly, from what I recall the HSE Investigation which was released a few
months ago didn't mention a nail, just said about damage to the tyre.

Reading between the lines it sounds like he started the run with a flat tyre --- they don't want to say the checks between runs weren't
carried out properly.

"According to the report, the underlying cause of the incident was "the inability to spot the damage to the tyre".
Quite hard to do I would have thought when doing 288mph - that damage could have been caused anywhere on that final run so any amount of safety checks
would have not changed a thing!!
Glad to see the BBC have spent our licence fees so wisely to come up with these genius level conclusions!!
" The 88-page document criticised the Top Gear team for not having anyone present "with sufficient knowledge to assess the adequacy"
of the safety checks. "
I am disgusted with this in that the Top Gear Team didnt have a suitably qualified checker to check that the other checker was doing his checking in a
proper manner.
