mobile phone crisis
help..........
the wife in her infanate wisdom decided to see if her mobile phone could swim in a toliet bowl before use thank god
it cant
problem now is it just lights up when you turn it on
so is there anything we can do to get it going again or rescue its memory as it has some pictures saved on it that she cant replace

Dismantle it - let it dry and hope and pray that everything is ok. I did it once (not the loo but a puddle) once it dried out it was fine. The Piezo
speaker/microphone may be damaged if water has got between the ceramic discs... placing on top of a radiator (that's on) for a day or two should
sort it out.

remove battery, take it apart as much as you can and wash it in clean water then leave to dry completely.
replace battery then swtich on.
probalby not good if switched on when wet although.
the stuff you are after hopefully is on a memory card or the sim; if internal memory you may want to prepare for crying.

Yup. As above. Let it dry out well before let the juice flow again. The damage may already be done though....

Not missing the obvious dont suppose the phone has a removale memory card in it ? mini xd ect

As above cross fingers and let it dry out..
Wouldn't put it on a rad though, an airing cuboard is your best bet or failing that anywhere warm but i would avoid direct heat.
SIM cards are fairly durable and resiliant to most things.

On top of a radiator is fine. I have done two like this ( dont ask!!! ) just dont put the battery on the radiator. Nasty little things those Lithium
Ion batteries.

You could put in in a microwave. JOKE.
Many moons ago I wanted to thoroughly cleanse a hard disk. Ended up putting the platters in the microwave. Did the job 
I saw something once on Cnet about how they destruction tested a memory card. They dunked them in coffee, ran over them in cars, put them through
washing machines.... Little blighters carried on working just fine!!!

my mate dropped his phone in the toilet at work. after that it just constantly flashed and vibrated. thats all

I put the [2 day old] phone on the sofa, put my cup of tea on the floor and sat down.
As I sat down the phone bounced up and landed straight in the tea.
it worked fine after it had dried out!

Clean water probably won't damage anything as long as it is dried out properly - however if there was any bleach down there it is a different
story
I used to manufacture electronic circuit boards for gas sensors and to clean the flux off after flow soldering I used a dishwasher ..... really!

lcd screens dont like water much - make sure its dry before you power it and connect it to your PC to get the photos off. My misses put her moto
pebble through the washing machine and it came out ok.
