Which entertainment supplier?
I have just realised that the anything esle section is supposed to be car related!
Never mind eh!
Right,
I am cheesed off with Virgin for various reasons and would like to change suppliers for Phone, Tinterweb and TV.
History.
before i moved to this house i requested that BT set upa new BT contract to this new address.
I moved in and found out that there was a telewest (now virgin) line here too.
Telewest dropped a flyer through the door and caught my attention etc etc.
Signed up and been with then nearly a year now but not without issues.
I have 2Mb broad band, evening and weekend call package and standard TV.
The only reason that me and the misses can think of staynig with virgin now is for the replay feature on their TV package so you can watch certain
shows when you want as opposed to when thay are aired.
Choices
Now i have a friend who bought a 'box' from ebay for £80 and it gives you a multitude of channels at no monthly subscription - sounds good
eh.
do i dump virgin for tinterweb and phone and go with someone else and buy a 'box' or do i jump in both feet with another 'whole
package' supplier? - if so who do you recommend?
Thanks
ATB

Virgin Media are utter cr*p but then so are the rest of them I pay £70 a month and get a V+ box, our old telewest box in Mrs Beddows and my
bedroom, 8Meg broadband (well, near enough when I can be bothered to check) Sky Movies, Sky Sports and to be honest we don't use the house phone
enough to ever trouble the bill. BUT we've had 6 V+ boxes in 6 months because they just don't work....and we do miss SKY ONE but I
can't be arsed with some pirated system and I hate Rupert Murdock just slightly more than I hate Richard Branson so.......

I've had Virgin broadband for years and it is very good, no problems at all. The package I started with was up to 8mb connection and unlimited
downloads for £24.99. When it became virgin media they gave me the same package plus free phone calls to 01 +02 numbers at anytime for £19.99/mth.
saving me £60/year. can't do tv through them as we have no other supplier in the road, so I have to have sky, no problems there either.

As much as I hate Murdoch I wouldn't be without Sky+ now - we just watch what we want when we want to. It might not be the cheapest but it all
works really well.
I wouldn't go with anybody but BT for the phone line though. If you have a problem with the line other suppliers can take days just to look at
the fault - BT sort it out straight away with no bother.
If you're not living life on the edge you're taking up too much room.

For decent service package deals are out. Will cost you a few quid more but I think it's worth it.
I recommend:
- Sky+ TV (way better than cable and the plus bit is amazing)
- Zen Internet (best ADSL supplier by miles)
- BT phone line (which I only use to make the above work)

Ive got BT phone line SkyHD and Sky internet, pretty happy with it all(Whichi thought i would never say about sky!), once you get through to a UK
based call center the support ive had is OK too and when i have had an issue ive been able to talk to a team leader straight away who resolved my
issue in seconds

Ive recently got Sky+ with their broadband package and free evening/weekend calls, for £26 a month for all the base Sky packages (ie not Sky Sports /
Movies), 8Mbit broadband (40Gb/month limit) and free evening/weekend calls I think its tricky to beat really. The internet is generally fine although
not quite up there with the best Ive used previously for speed, but considering the whole package is only costing me £6 more than my previous
broadband package alone, I can cope with the very occasional DNS glitch and slow page load.
That £26 obviously doesnt include your BT phone line rental though, which is on top.

Ah yes i forgot about the Sky DNS glitch! which i have managed to get round,
Just go to your connection settings, IP settings and add a custom DNS server, i used 4.2.2.3 which is a public server so should skys single(!) dns
have a problem your PC will use the public one and still be able to resolve address.
