tintop help
right tintop headace
i have a 1998 2.0 ecotec vectra that after about 20 miles it runs like its out of petrol set off and it just dies and engine warnig light comes on
(the orange one) leave it for a day or so and its fine for another 20 miles
its been in the garage and on the computer and they cant find any faults
i have stripped the fuel pump down ect and all seams clear and its real frustrating as if i cant sort it i am just gonna scrap it
any ideas????????????????

try the engine temp sensor for the ecu it might be reading ok whilst the engine is cool and the breaking down when it gets hot. if you want to test it
take it out and put a meter across the terminals and read the resistance (prob spelt wrong) and pop it in a pot of ater put it on the stove and watch
the meter as the water gets warm the reading should be stead and not jump about . hope this helps

Fuel tank vacuum possibly? Heavily choked fuel filter. Crap in the tank. (that's a guess at the fault, not an instruction)

Has the cam sensor ever been changed? Very common failure on them.

Have you tried filling the tank right up?
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

sound like a fuel pump relay problem .polo,s do a similar thing the relay gets hot and then buggers up. not sure if the relay is a multi function one
that also powers up the ecu on the vectra
