Maybe Renault were getting good enough to challenge Ferrari next year.

Maybe we've been getting this all wrong and Max's vendetta isn't against Hamilton or McLaren but against Alonso!!! If all the teams
linked to Alonso's move get a similar announcement it's for sure

I'm getting pissed off with all of them
It's supposed to be about motor racing - not politics, spying, backstabbing and whinging Spanish drivers
I really can't be bothered to keep watching a 'sport' where everyone moans and complains instead of racing as hard and as fast as
they can.

well, even if they did have/use the info. it doesn't appeared to have helped.

It has been expected for some time, an ex-McLaren employee took 3 disks with McLaren IP with him when he moved to Renault.

What hurt Renault was when the so called Mass Damper was banned -- actually the mass damper was really a smart ballast system design to prevent wheel
locking and improve traction.
This was completely legal when Renault fitted it to the car but it was banned mid season in 2006 mainly because other teams couldn't get it to
work.
They also were using a form of launch control that breached the technical regs.
Renault didn't complain too much when the mass damper t was banned because they got left off lightly with the launch control.
Interestingly the Ferrari moving floor was mounted in a similar fashion to the Renault mass damper but in a vertical plane.

Or is it a vendetta against anything not painted in Rosso Red who dare challenge the Italians

Think the FIA should be having a bit of an backside kicking.
I somehow think all teams will be in breach of this in some respect. If you look at any employee that has moved somewhere you can almost guaratee they
have something related to the previous compnay with them. Even if its things like steel spec etc it may still be confidential info.
I wonder how long before the teams begin having a counter espionage department?

In the case of the McLaren employee who went to Renault it was 3 disks --- Flavio claims it was 3 floppies word on the wire is it was actually 3 CDs
(or DVDs) that were copied & widely distributed within the team and they were caught with them. It was an an awful lot more info than Stepney
passed to Coughlan, virtually the complete plans for the car, step up info, recorded test data, procedures.......
