The French!!
Yeah , I can't believe we are so passive in this country , the French would would have driven their vehicles onto the nearest motorway and left
them until a more sensible level of tax was introduced.
I dont want to wreck the planet but , this level of tax takes the p*** in the name of the environment.
Also because of the transport costs EVERYTHING goes up accordingly.
I was very in the 'dumpthepumps' protest some years ago , but to say the british people are apathetic is a massive understatement.

It makes my blood boil but until we can get the Labour party out of power I don't know what can really be done.
I hope that lorry drivers will protest and they have my support.
My fuel bill has just gone up by £50 per month in the last few weeks and there is no sign that it has stopped going up either
Have a good day everyone

Pah, up to £75 a week now. It stuck for a long time at the psychological limit of 99.9p per litre for Diesel, once it broke through it's been
shooting up quickly - I've seen 107p on the A1.
On a historical note I remember the Labour benches erupting in mocking laughter when the price went over £2 per gallon under the Tories. It's
now quite possible that it'll hit £5 per gallon in the new year at the current rate of increase.

I don't see why the government don't just set a "target cost" for fuel and adjust the tax accordingly depending on the price
of crude- rather like they're doing with the Bank of England and setting interest to control inflation. I suppose they worry if they did that
OPEC would increase the cost up to that limit!!
Still, life never was fair. Consider this, 10 years ago estate agents charged 2%. Average house price was what £100k Now 10 years later, house prices
have gone up exponentially (average price £250k?), they're still charging 2%. So estate agents who 10 years ago getting 2k per house sale now
getting 5k....That sound fair to anyone here?? A flat rate regardless of house prices would suit everyone except the estate agent....

You don't need to be militant to get the government to see sense.
The peole in power will never listen to the likes of us, the only thing that they take notice of are other people in power.
So you simple choose one of the large oil companies like Shell or BP and you boycott their forecourts and go elsewhere. I bet it wouldn't take
long before the CEO/chairman of the company singled out to contact the government and seeing how much money the politcal parties get in donations etc
they are much more likely to take notice.
What do you think of that for an idea?

i've said it before and i'll say it again this country is a joke why dont the government take all my wages and give me back what they
think i can survive on so that the they can give my money to the people who dont want to work. my wife and i need two cars as i work shifts and she
needs to pick the kid up from nursey but we have been thinking of ways to get rid of one(no not the kid the car) as the running costs are going
through the roof and things are only going to get worse now that we will be paying for the commonwealth games (another waste of money) and our income
tax will prob go up and!!!!!!!!
im going off on one so im going to stop and take a deap breath

I've thought before answering this post, but I can't do it without sounding smug, so I apologise for that.
I assume that you're all handy with spanners, right ?
And it's the cost of the fuel that's bugging you ?
Do like I did, get your spanners out, converty your car to a cheaper fuel and reap the benefits.
My last tenner of my chosen fuel took me 120 miles.
A tenner of petrol would have taken me around 75 miles.
My fuel costs 46% the price of petrol on the forecourt.
I knew earlier this year that I would be spitting feathers once petrol got around the £1 a litre mark and decided to do something about it.
That is all.

Ah But
Your lpg conversion is cheap to run now but my super cynical brain says that if a LARGE proportion of motorists had an lpg car it would mysteriously
rise in cost to suit how much cash the government need.
Diesel used to always be the the poor / cheap relation to petrol didn't it?
Is it right that in France the price of diesel is always set a certain percentage below petrol?

I really hesitate to say, because I'm becoming a bit of an evangalist for it and almost boring myself far less everyone else.
LPG
Sequential injection, just like the normal petrol system. Kit cost me 400 quid.

Sounds like a gas conversion to me
I will be considering this for my next car....
Only thing is, how long will it be before the govt hammer this fuel for similar taxes too?

Did you have to have it safety checked and a certificate issued?

Some insurers insist on a safety check. Some don't. Liverpool Victoria appear not to give a stuff.

I t really annoys me when the News programmes and papers are blaming the cost of crude when the actual cost of the petrol is still only about 35p a
litre to the garages, the rest is all tax .Maybe the garages should start showing thge price as 35p per litre plus 70p tax to make the general public
realise .
Has anyone also noticed the price of rapeseed oil has recently increased by a large amount? is it a supply and demand thing as the supermarket shelves
usually seem to be empty of the large 3 litre bottles recently.
Paul.

I wonder why....
Rapeseed oil is the most suitable for pouring straight into your diesel tank with a little diesel to lower the viscosity.

I run LPG and the only provider here is Shell. LPG was costing just under half of petrol price. Yesterday LPG was 51.9 per litre and unleaded £1.09.
Why has LPG gone up so much!

I reckon that veggie oil will eventually outprice itself because it's seen as a relatively easy alternative choice.
LPG is seen as a leftfield, slightly nutty choice. this suits me fine. Most people think of an LPG tank as a bomb whilst having a plastic petrol tank
in there which is constructed to a far less exacting standard.
Caber, is there not a Morrisons near you ?
P.S. It was after speaking to you that I decided I would be going LPG

to my intelligence when the gov. rattle on about the those 'baddies' putting up the price of crude oil..............
If Mr Bush taxed the yanks the same he'd be gone in no time!!!!!!!!!!1

I don't know about punished just yet, but; I discovered that I am on Special Branche,s poo list, as a political activist - and proud of it!.

My crime; trying to stop the local council from closing a community centre, that was used by over a thousand people every week, from infants to
pensioners.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!
