dent in new car
Went to Tesco last night and as I’m a fussy bugger I always park at the end of all the spaces and park on the white line so that there’s enough room
for a people carrier or 4x4 to park next to me and the woman driver and kids can all open there doors fully without touching mine. (sorry to women
drivers it’s a generalisation)
I got back to my car after shopping to find some silly old "gits" had parked there car within 2mm's of my car and were trying to get
out, and despite bashing there door against mine a few times it didn’t make the gap wider for her to get out.
I politely explained that the car is 2 weeks old today and they have dented the door, to which the old guy said its only a little dent what’s the
problem, to which I replied ok fine that’s a little dent in a 18K car so in your 4k car do I get to do equal damage ?
After a 20 minute discussion I walked away with £150 cash and a signed note that it was his wife’s fault, looks like I’ll be calling Keith at dent
devils today lucky the paint is ok.

I feel for you mate.
I bought my first new car about 3 months ago. I've had new company cars before, but this is the first I have paid for myself.
I have washed it every weekend, kept the interior immaculate, been really careful about keeping my lovely 18" alloys clean and away from
kerbs.
Then last weekend, my little lad who is 6 opened the passenger door a little too wide and hit a bollard. The dent is about the size of a thumbnail,
paint is OK, but it's in the middle of the door.
Unfortunatley I can't stop his pocket money, so it looks like I'm paying a dent master out of my own pocket.
At least you got the cash out of the little old dears.

 I can't believe the cheek of some people. Maybe they don't care if their car gets dented but I know if it happened to me I'd
be mighty pi$$ed off! At least you managed to catch them in the act, I hope the money covers the repair with a bit left over for a pint or two

People have no respect for the property of others these days!
I have a 3 year old subaru forester 2.5 XT which I use to goi to work etc. Where I park it has been bashed quite a few times, with one occasion ending
in a insurance claim (his not mine).
The cheek was that the guy didn't admit he had done it! I had to find a witness, take photos etc etc.
The clincher is that my mate is a copper so I called him on the off chance that he was in the area. He turned up in a police van with 8 uniformed
crowd control guys on board! He radio'd the reg of the offending car to HQ, got the guys name and address. We knocked on the door and had a
quiet word!
I would like to get a new car, but i'm put off by idiots denting cars as if it's 'no problem' (my size 11 says otherwise)

my friend once dented her own gallant vr4 Ralliart within hours of getting it with a shopping trolley she let go of.
noticed i said her.

swmbo regularly whacks a kerb with the inevitable scratches & dings to the rims. Funny thing is that she is never concerned about it -
doesn't even look to see what she's done, yet she is really fastidious when it comes to a dirty mark on the fridge door and will spend
ages cleaning it off .............. bless

my old fiesta (1979 mk1 - 21 years old when I got it) had a crease/ line down the side that was just in the perfect place to get hit by other car
doors mostly in the uni car park
after 3.5 years it still looked quite good, but if you looked down the sides you could see about 20 to 30 little flat spots/ dents along the crease -
if it wasn't for that the car would have only needed new wings and a re-spray to make it perfect (it only had 25k on the clock)
my dads old landrover was the best avoiding getting hit in car parks, it also got you some more respect/ space when driving it.
it had spent most of its life on an estate up north, so every panel was covered in massive dents, scratches and even a few holes or 'puncture
wounds' that had been sorted with a big hammer and some rivets - add to this a think coating of mud and somehow everyone gives you allot of
space
people don't care about hitting your car doors, cause they have no fear of the consequences - that old landrover only got any respect because
most people were afraid they'd come of worse than it

IMHO they should be scared. If I'd a new motor and someone did it in front of me and was not prepared to fork out the dosh when confronted then

You think thats cheeky, I once went back to my car to find the guy oarked next to me had decided to use my bonnet to rest his parcel on while he
opened the boot of his. Worse still I had just got the car out of the paint shop after having the same bonnet resprays (back to metal respray
too).
He didn't damage it, but needless to say I threw a few choice phrases at him.

I was in an M25 traffic jam last year when I felt a little nudge from the car behind. I jumped out quickly to find an old Escort driven by a Polish
guy (with his mother in the passenger seat) He had cracked my rear bumper and it needed a repair job and a blow-in.
He didn't speak much English but with the aid of some sign language ( ) I gathered that he didn't have any insurance and no cash on
him.
I escorted him to the nearest cash point and persuaded him to withdraw £200. That paid for my touch-up can, filler and a few pints of beer

I once got hit by a woman who charged out at a roundabout without looking, and went straight into the side of me.
She put a nice fat dent in my front wing, but just refused to accept responsibility. The whole time I had her mother (who didn't speak a word of
English) ranting at me about something or other. In the end I couldn't be bothered with the hassle (it was only a clapped-out Sierra), so I just
gave her an earful and drove off.
A few days later I broke the gearbox anyway and the car went to the great scrapheap in the sky, so it didn't really make a difference in the end

3 days ago someone had "parked" their Merc SLK in the carpark at my local supermarket. But they'd swung it in so badly that they
actually occupied over a third of the parking space next to it (the car was angled @ about 30 degrees).... Of course the 2/3 parking space was the
only one left.... I just managed to squeeze the tintop in their....
I think I *might* have accidentally bumped into their car with my door when I opened it
Then again, I feel bad for the OP..... Just not for selfish Merc SLK drivers who should learn to park!!!

A family friend used to buy a new Merc every 2 years or so - when she took delivery the salesman used to send through to the workshop for a ball peen
hammer and she would put the first dent in it - said she never worried about it thereafter.

my other half had a mgf she drove into my car that cost me £200 to get the dent done. then 1 week later i hit it on the other side and cost another
£200 to get done lol. they done a very good job you couldnt tell after that there was a dent.
shes sold it now tho lol.

This thread has made me chuckle. Miss Owelly has been complaining about the number of projects I have littering the place so I sold one. The guy came
to collect the Alfa 156 this morning. He paid me the cash and we were sorting out the documents when Miss Owelly came in fuming about some tw4t with a
trailer parked outside. The guy went a bit red and enquired what was the problem. Miss Owelly had managed to reverse her Jeep into it. She's had
the Jeep for just over a week and now the rear bumper, end cap and wheel arch have been battered and the rear tyre has a big rip in it. It's
funny how she never managed to prang any of the 'old' cars and had to wait until she had a brand new Jeep to bend.......
In her defence, she said the trailer wasn't usually there....
