Amazon Delivery Rates

Has anyone found the way Amazon works out delivery costs to be way out of wack?

If you look up Sony 80min MiniDv tapes they list the weight of the tape as 32g but the postal weight as 454g!!! I tried to order 3 and it wanted to charge £11 postage (because 3 tapes apparantly weight 1.5kg)!!!

Annoyingly Amazon only want to be contacted about orders that have actually happened rather than orders that can't happen because of their stupid postage system.

Are you shure this is not from a amazon shop, as these are independent and seem to charge more than amazon for postage (which is free over 20 quid orders)?

Has anyone figured out a way of searching/viewing only for items with amazon free postage rather than thinking you're buying something with free postage only to get to the checkout to find loads of postage slapped on top?

Ned.

And when will Ebay allow you to search "price low to high" based on total price not just item price only to find postage is three times the cost of the item...

Mate have u looked on ebay for minidv tapes?? I was looking at them only the oter day. I found 5 panasonic tapes 4.99 plus 1.99 postage which i thought was very good price. I last paid about 14 quid i think from a shop for jvc ones which are cheaper.

I have (in fact I got 5 very nice premium Sony 60 tapes for about 10 quid) but I want the 80 mini DV tapes and no-one seems to have the sony version of them on Ebay....

I know I could use a different manufacturer but I'm wary due to the old problems with different manufacturers using different lubricants which interacted on the rollers making them all gummy... Apparently the manufacturers have got their act together so it shouldn't happen anymore... but it seems easier just to stick to Sony Premium tapes
