easier way is to walk in and ask, all they wanted was letter headed note paper and proof if id,
ten mins on ms word and had my letter headed paper. + driving licence and i have my card

just a shame the assistants know bugger all about cars and takes 15mins to get anything out of them

or...

...breed vigorously, produce children, encourage one to work at Halfords as a weekend job, prompt them to say yes when they are asked if they want a staff discount or trade discount card, drop heavy hints about what you want for christmas or birthday. Simple.

Thats what I did. I didn't have to give ID though. Was maybe 2 years ago when I got mine.

The way i did it was to ask in one store what was required to get one and then take the required things to anothwer store. Then you can say things like
'heres the standard letter for trade cards and that should be all you need.'

The weekend staff just said 'uummm yep thats all we need.'
