Mid engined Haynes roadster.
Although the wonderfull book of Haynes roadster has not arived yet (santa is bringing it on tuesday )
I was wondering first of all how hard it would be to use the book chassis as a basis for a mid engined car...
And secondly what engine would be suitable.
I have been toying with the idea of a golf V6 engine, or the golf 1.8T engine...Or perhaps the MR2 Mk2 2.0L engine... But im not sure really...
Is it practical to run a transverse front mounted engine, in the middle of a kit car?

Works for me In fact practically any FWD engine can be moved to the mid-rear position.
You could also consider more 'grown up' engines like the Audi 4.2 V8

If you wanted to keep at least the outer frame the same, wouldn't you have to end up with a central driving position, i.e. legs into the former
engine bay?

Nahh! Use a bike engine!
I no longer run Furore Products or Furore Cars Ltd, but would still highly recommend them for Acewell dashes, projector headlights, dominator
headlights, indicators, mirrors etc, best prices in the UK! Take a look at http://www.furoreproducts.co.uk/ or find more parts on Ebay, user names
furoreltd & furoreproducts, discounts available for LCB users.
Don't forget Stainless Steel Braided brake hoses, made to your exact requirements in any of around 16 colours.

aeons use both the duratec V6 and the VAG 1.8 turbo as options... Razman's is the V6 in a very modified 2 seat, mine's a V6 in the 3 seat
coupe... but the turbo 1.8 is pretty adaptable..
Smile and wave boys.... Smile and wave....

Toyota 4AGE from an MR2. Everything for a mid engined instrallati0on has been taken care of by Toyota Or the 3SGTE for more power (and weight).
