Blind Stupid or Just French
Afternoon all. Well today was service SWMBO Clio day and was no too bad BUT where the Feck is the fuel filter at on an 03 plate 1.2 16 valve. Am I
blind or does it exist somewhere stupid like in the tank or above the tank????
Also why have the Effing french decided to make the sparkplug tubes so small that a std plug socket won't fit down it (20mm tube 22mm O/D
socket) ARGH  . So now I need to source a pissing weak looking socket that (if the plugs are over tight) will probably not be man enough
for the job
Rant over so am I blind or are the renault/french stupid??
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

I'm glad that's caught someone else out too !!! Have to confess i couldn't ever be bothered to find it, it was my old dears car and
she was about to sell it anyway.... Would be interested to find out though

Well no idea where that fuel filter is, but on my bike engine i also cant get to the plugs socket 16 i bought a small long type socket and that one
didin't fit either!!
i bought a plugsocket for my plug and that one fitted.
in my local garage they do had the long type small socket...

Try under the rear of the car near the fuel tank. The filter for my Peugeot was to be found there, held in place by a crappy plastic strap thing that
was a pig to undo and even worse to put back again. I wouldn't be at all surprised if the Renault isn't similar.
Whoops, double negative... I mean I wouldn't be suprised if the Renault IS similar!
Actually, I wouldn't be surprised by anything on French cars anymore....

quite a few modern vehicles now have internal filters in the tank so if its not at the rear at the side of the tank i think it will be one of these so
leave it alone

probably just in front of the rear arch without about 10mm slack on the fuel lines meaning you cant get clamps in there based on previous experience
with french cars, alone with clever things like the dipstick tube being in the way of one of downpipe bolts, you can undo it but then you cant get the
socket out and you cant get a spanner up there.
FREE THE ROADSTER ONE…!!

if thats the case, pul the rear bench up and there will be a big plastic circle, pull it up and it will be in there

Think you may find the plugs are not 20.6mm they are 5/8"

i hate french cars! especially RENAULT! imho the build quality is just crap and some of the ideas they have are just silly.
im a toyota fan myself, as i been working on them for over 8 years.
but the new yaris are all built in bloody france! the early type yaris was built in japan and france and out of the two which one do you think had the
most problems?!
yes thats right the french built one!!
and as for your sparkplug there is a special long type socket you can buy from your local snap/rip off tool van. also think laser do them at a much
happier price.
i think your new years resolution should be never buy a renault!

I dont like French cars either but I dont know why.
The very scabby 406 I have owned for 3 years and 40K miles has been almost faultless and a very comfortable drive. It is the best car I have ever
had. 2 cars ago was a beige MKII Cavalier so there is not a lot of competition in that department.
That said, I would never recommend a french car to anyone, but I still dont kknow why.

I have a Citroen XM 2.1 TD estate which I paid the grand sum of £350 ten years ago! O.K some of the electrics don't work but the engine has been
brilliant and until you have driven one you will never know how good the ride and handling is.Crap build quaility but there you go

I did a head gasket on one years ago, not a bad engine to work on but the positioning in the car & all the pipework was the stuff of
nightmares.
As you say though the ride/handling has to be experienced, even if it's not to your taste it's bloody good for a big FWD car.

iv had french cars too, had 2 205 gtis 3 ax gt's but only cos they were for fun factor not for reliabilty

Just a thought,
the French seem to make better mass
produced cars than the British. Ours were
so bad no one bought them 
(Ford are not British)
Triumph, MG, Morris, Austin, Rover, etc, etc

The right formula is:
Let the English design it.
The French the only seats
The Italian design the engine
Let the Japanese build it incl the parts
Let the Germans finish it.
Then you have the ultimate car
Then let the Dutch drive it.
And Chinese can copy it
Please feel free to correct my bad English, i'm still learning. Your Dutch is awfull! :-)

Funny, my misses and I both have french cars. Mine Citeon Xsara 2ltr HDI cracking car to drive, and VERY ecomonical, 55 MPG, (has been chipped).
60,000 miles faultless, as long as you dont count the air bag light being on, (been fixed several times, leads under the drivers seat).
Misses has a Citreon C5 Auto, 2ltr petrol, top of the range, all electric everything. Again cracking car to drive, (self leveling on corners), but not
so economical, 34 MPG. 45,000 faultless miles, (no fault lights on , ).
So from my point of view not a lot wrong with Froggy motors. Cheers Ray

In the past I've had a couple of Citroen BX - very smooth and comfortable to travel in. In the end, they were too expensive to maintain (due to
Citroen dealer rip-offs mostly) and I could never get used to the lean on the corners!
