Brakes For Hillclimbs/Sprints??

I'm planning doing a couple of Hillclimbs/Sprints this year in the roadgoing saloon class. Can anyone with experience of these types of events recommend a good brake pad choice and also are 'expensive' discs necessary or will good standard ones do just as well ???

Poly 'E' Pads are good (apparently) but don't last long - but thats kinda why people have them if you know what I mean

A couple of regular hillclimbers have told me they tried racing/high performance pads but they were crap because you dont get any heat into them. One of them now uses semi-worn quality road pads as they work nicely from cold.

just use standard road pads as they give the best bite from cold.
you dont get enough heat in them during a run to justify performance pads.
cheap too

p.s. use uprated pads for trackdays though
