Vectra 2.0Dti...Experts wanted

Got a prob with an X reg 2.0 diseasel Vectra. Thing lost power and cut out.
The engine light has NOT come on at all.

Checked all the vac pipes and electrical connections, all sem fine. Checked for water
in the filter, again seemed ok but replaced it anyway. Still wouldn't start. There is fuel
getting to the injectors as it comes out when the unions are loosened.

Managed to start it with a tow and idles fine but when the accelerator is pressed it falters
a little then no further response till nearly full then it revs cleanly.

I know these don't have a lift pump and can be pigs to prime but left it ticking over for a
while so don't think it's that.

I'm suspecting the throttle position sensor. Is there a way of checking these ? I'd rather
not fork out £60 on the offchance.

Any other suggestions welcome.

I used to have a dti, had problems starting once, finally got it going and it ran ok, couple of days later same thing. It was the fuel overspill / return pipes, these are under the plastic engine cover and loop from one pot to the other and are connected with small plastic tee pieces and then back to the pump. the pipe looked fine but I think had gone slightly porous. I bought a meter from the local lucas center only a couple of quid and about 1/2 hours job so might be worth trying. Never had the problem again

I've heard a few folk speak about the pipes going porous but usually the symptoms are a loss of pressure over a bit of time leading to a major amount of cranking over to get it to start.
I'd Imagine the TPS would just be a variable resisor so you'd be able to check it with a multi meter.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.
