I use it all the time, works really well, you need to be very carefull with VAG com and air bag modules, it can knacker them as there is a bug in some airbag modules firmware. The website tells you which modules are afected. Best bet would be to get a friendly dealer to do it. Shouldn't cost a lot.

Strangely did this, this morning on my mk4 golf gti. Bought a Gendan Automotive fault code reader for about £40-50. Really good and also after reading codes the 3rd time will also erase them. If you get one dont plug it in with an aftermarket stereo.

Basset, out of interest what OBD software do you use with your Gendan?

I'm using Scantool.net for all my Euroboxes, seems to work well.

I also have VAG COM here.

As stated above, it positively discourages even looking at airbag modules unless you're really sure that's what you want to do.

I've got it and used it on my airbag system, no problems and cleared the code I had.

I have a the 409.1 version and a cheap cable from ebay

I removed the airbag to take the steering wheel off to get at the ignition switch. I also removed the ECU to repair a broken wire. I just need to reset the system that puts the airbag dash light on as its now on all the time. I downloaded the vag com software last night just waiting for the cable to arrive from ebay.
