this gets me so annoyed, MRSA in all forms is everywhere already, infact most people already carry it, it is only dangerous when your body is weak and at risk.

and before anyone starts, My good lady is a doctor researching cures, so I do know

There is a new strain been discovered, its more prevalent in Gay males in the USA, and they have it in a ratio of 5:1 compared to ordinary people. (this is where the gay connection is on this story)
This one is Antibiotic resistant, and causes necrosis in the Lungs. So its not very nice.

There are also some other strains that are not very nice. So being Fit an healthy is not a complete guarantee that you wont get it.

Its on the BBC new site for all the details:

linky

The Bugs have been on this planet longer than us, and have a mutational / reproductive cycle that is in weeks / months, not 30 years like humans, so they can change and mutatue more quickly than we can.
We humans have only had the upper hand for less than 100 of the last 250,000 Years or so that Man has been on the planet.

1. The point of a journey is not to arrive.
2. Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.

I wouldn't say man has ever had the upper hand when it comes to diseases, millions every year die from them and the plagues in the past decimated most of europe and still threaten to return.

Lets get this in perspective!!!

The new USA300 form has killed how many people?????

Okay it has the potential to be deadly but you also have to realise that the media bloody love whipping up a panic over the next health "scare".

Anyway, we'll all be dead with SARS and bird flu long before we get USA300 MRSA...... Or, I forgot, those two "epidemics" aren't going to wipe us out anymore... It's almost as if the media don't know what they're talking about....

USA300 is worrying but it's not time for panic.

Meanwhile, malaria, which is the infection that has killed the greatest number of people in all history continues to become resistant to medication and in central Africa has showing a propensity for going straight to peoples brains.... But do you hear about that- NO. Because it's "old news"- clearly Malaria isn't as "sexy" as MRSA. In other words, its got nothing to do with informing people of actual risks, just to do with selling newspapers, getting clicks on websites etc.
