Insuring a youngun on a kit car?

I know this has been descussed before, but I cant for the life of me find it...

Are there any companies that will insure kit cars for under 25s?

I will be 20ish by the time im finished building my car, but is there any point in starting if I cant get insurance for a reasonable amount?

Im planning an 1800 turbo...so perhaps thats not going to help!

If you add words like turbo you may find the price goes up, I personally would go for a 1300/1600 and pay less. then when your older get a bigger engine

i will being trying to insurance my car with footman james or adrian flux, because i think they have insuraned 17 year olds, as welli will be my first car at the age of 17.

So i would think they would cover a 20 year old.

I'm 23 and with Adrian Flux for my performance tintop and they've got an Excess of £400 for under 25's.

With the kit companies its the luck of the Draw, and it sounds like you've got more chance in your own name!.

I was added to my dads kit policy last year for about £40 with 1,500 miles when we wanted to up it to 3,000 miles they wanted to double or more the premium as they'd then realsied my age! (you owuld have thought by 23 with 5 years NCB they'd have been a bit more forgiving) So we told them to leave it as it is

Try sureterm worked for me at 22, but you might have to have the main driver as someone older then add yourself on.

Hi, I've just turned 20, insured my raw striker with adrian flux when I was 19 for under £600 and that was with zero years NCB and 3points on my license!

is £600 good for a car that does less than 1500 miles a year.

I pay £300 for an A4 TDI full comp and when I had my MG Midget I paid £94 unlimited miledge NCD not required, free recovery with Footman james

But i'm 35

well, I do technically have a 1500 mile limit, but I also do technically have a mileage reset button on my speedo! If you can see what I'm saying...........

I'm 24, had kit car insurance for a few years with Footman James. I tried sureterm and they said "we'll ring you back" I had to ring them back 5 times and every time they said "we'll ring you back with a quote", never did get one and footman james were cheapest for me

I'm 23 and just insured my first Kit.
Footman james wont cover under 25 with a BEC - they totally screwed up my quote. Backford Bloor (?) wont cover under 25 either.

Flux insured me thru NIG on a 954cc blade lump, £540 3000miles, £350 excess.
