New doors idea..what do you think?
http://www.disappearing-car-door.com/#
Personally I'm not sold on some alleged benefits...seems more of a cool factor idea than anything.
Also, if you'd spent thousands (guessing) getting to this stage why on earth host it on some freebie web space full of ads?
It wouldn't surprise me if it actually was a hoax....

Looks like pimp my ride, I don't think I'll bother on the Kia
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Although a cool idea... have you seen the blind spot created by the Seatbelt Reel retainer integarted into the seat! Instant blind spot!!!
Neat idea though....

everyone would be able to see all the rubbish I've thrown behind the seat
I wonder how it would perform after a crash, would it open at all?

One nice medium sized impact, very minor chassis deformation, ooh is that a bit of smoke I see, I'll just jump out the car...
oh, I can't get out the car, the door aperture has only moved a fraction / electrics have been fried but I'm now trapped.

Normal doors can get nipped in a crash.
I bet it would hurt a bit if you pressed the button by mistake when you were half way out
Quite a neat idea. I dare bet the concept car makers have done it already though. It will be on a list of innovations for future release. Not too
dissimilar to the doors on the Toyota Previa and Pugs etc. (ie one door opens up the side of the vehicle).

They can, but with hinges dont rely on close tolerance fit - if you can kick it hard enough it'll usually pop open once past the jamb - with
that you've got to worry about the whole length of travel.
