eBay Quickie

A couple of days ago I put a listing on eBay and ticked the 'buy it now' box and selected a price of £75. All was well until someone placed a bid of 99p so I now run the risk of selling it at that price.

I probably wasn't concentrating when I was ticking boxes but what do I do now? Can I change the listing (and correct by mistake) now that there is a valid bid or do I cancel the auction and relist?

If you put buy it now AND auction, if someone bids, it cancels the buy it now. Annoying isn't it?

Your choices are, buy it now and a starting bid close to the BIN price, BIN only, or buy it now and best offer. Best offer allows you to submit a bid to the seller who then decides whether to accept or not.

Ebay listing

When listing an item on Ebay you have the choice of two selling formats.

Auction, with or without a buy it now price.
If you have set a buy it now price. The first bid will make the buy it now option disappear. ( Uless you have set a reserve that is).
Even more money to ebay then. As you do not get the reserve fee back if your item sells anymore !!??

Fixed price format. Buy it now price only.

I think the only option you have is to cancell the listing as above post says.

You will need to relist from scratch. If you choose the relist option, it'll not let you change the selling format.

I now use the fixed price format for all of my items that I know the value of.

I also make use of the Immediate payment option.

It may seem to put some people off but it does stop the timewasters & Scammers.

I hope this makes some sense.

Yes its a bit of a con from ebay, unless you do reserve £75 and Bin £75 you risk selling for less than your bin.

Of course there is a fee for bin and a fee for a reserve.
