That is a good deal. I can get petrol similar round gear but diesel is 106 cheapest. Unfortunately it will cost me £25 to drive down there and fill up. Thanks for the tip rich but please forgive me for not taking you up on the kind offer

our local asda is 98.9 for unleaded but if you buy it on an asda credit card you get it 2p/l cheaper, so really its 96.9p / litre

cheapest in the country??????????

Just filled up tonight @ 46.9p!

Spent the week converting the tin top to run on LPG - brilliant!

Excuse the smugness but after 7 days of non-stop drilling, trim removal and general messing about I seem to finally have something to show for the slashed hands and empty bank balance!

If anyone fancies fitting their own LPG kit for I can put you in touch with the guy who supplied mine?

Geoff

I was under the impression that you can fill LPG cars from 'orange' caravan gas cylinders, if you buy the necessary compressor, for around 20p/litre. Of course, you have to declare it every time and *cough* pay the tax.

Anyone know if this is true, or just an unfounded rumour?

So you did it then ?

Well done. It's not really that difficult, isn't it ? I took a week as well, but only to make sure I did it properly.

What system did you use ?

It is cheaper but dont know how much by, I have thought about using forklift cylinders wich are fitted with a dip tube and simply swapping when empty.I think it would be possible to fit one in the back of a seven but not sure what range you would have, I have seen Daxs with V8s fitted with gas conversions so it is possible.

Yeah Zil cheers for the advice - I went ahead on your reccomendation!

I hunted around for a while on ebay then found a company based in Hampshire and spoke to a knowledgable guy on the phone for a bit then palced the order.

Its a mixture of parts - EBC Tank, Italian Vapuriser and injectors and Czech ECU! Some british fuel pipe thrown in for the full "Euro" feel!

It runs very well, I was worried that the BMW straight 6 that has always run very smooth might just not run as well on the gas but it actually runs better and idles smoother - you can hardly tell its running!

So how do fill up from caravan gas cylinders? Are there any issues about LPG being a mix of propane and butane and caravan gases one or t'other?

Geoff

Yeah considering LPG again, looking cheaper again now that its back to being less than 1/2 the price of diesel.

Still a pain to convert though, especially with the rate at which I seem to swap cars (tin top wise at least)

cant understand why there is so much variation. In leeds i paid 106.9 for tesco diesel, got a full tank, drove to hartlepool and saw it was 104.9 at their tesco. Well pissed off! I travel far and wide and havent seen any cheaper than that 104.9

i put £70 yesterday morning, and another 70 just now!

I can't understand how this place is selling it for 99.9p, the nearest tesco in Dinnington is 108.9p for diesel and about 2p cheaper for unleaded.

At first i thought they might be waiting for the price board to be upgraded for 4 digits, but its a new one with a blank space infront of the first 9.

There always seems to be a 10 min queue there, but for £5 less a tank its worth it i reckon.
