Spam blocker
I always used to just put up with spam, but I've started getting e-mails with content I don't want my kids seeing. I don't know how
my details ended up getting sent to these companies ( I think someone's been spyin' on me 'cos they're all about me getting a
bigger todger!) but I want to stop them. Can anyone recommend a good spam blocker please?

damn I saw an add in Focus mag for a free e-mail service and it bosted very good spam blocking. Anyone remember what it was?

GoogleMail has the best spam filter I've come across, but if you want some software to work with your current email I'm afraid I
can't really help.

the one I saw said it could use your current e-mail address, I'll get details if this hasn't been resolved by the end of the day

K9 is a free program which sits between your email client and the internet 
It's the most intelligent of the spamfilters I've tried, VERY rarely does it let a spam email through, and stops up to 20-30 a day.
Highly recommended by me

well done that looks good, my home gets about 4 a day of those ones that say something like - 'Hi There' or 'Can you clear this
up'. Very annoying

does this put the spam somewhere you can actually access it if you want?? I have been plagued by mail offering me free ipods and PS3's
lately!!
Dont want to lose important mail though in the spam so would like to check it out occasionally

I have posted this info a few times if you use Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express install a free program called K9 - link

K9 was written a few years back and the spammers have found ways to get round so it is best to check the "use black list" option.
Mozila Thunderbird can also weed out spam with or without K9
In the above mail clients you will also need to setup filter rulles to dump or erase the spam.
For example on this PC Thunderbird is set not to download to erase from the server any email that contains the text Rolex.
In the longer term I would advise getting your mail through an mail box that filters most of the spam out or registering a domain name with a hosting
company (for example Compila ) that offers spam filters you can set up for yourself and using that as your email address.

I should add in K9 in the advanced tab
--- Blackhole List
tick "Use Black Hole List"
and into the server box paste the following line
sbl-xbl.spamhaus.org
This one of the best black holes lists --- very up to date and strict but few if any bad entries.
