OT: JTD
Hi,
Just somthing which is playing on the back of my mind I recently had my Alfa 147 JTD service and since the service it seems to be throwing out alot
more black smoke under acceleration (like a chipped vag) and i was expecting the mpg to go up as it usually does after a service to arround 44mpg (as
it usually does) but its sticked at the 40 mpg i was getting just before the service.
I was thinking there may be an oil leak in the turbo but the oil doesnt seem to be going down
any suggestions of what to check are welcome
Paul

Black smoke is over fuelling, blue would be an oil leak. I would say that the pump timing may be slightly out

Everytime I've had my toledo serviced the oil has been overfilled. As a result for the first 2000miles ish I get slightly worst fuel
consumptions (~2-3mpg reduction) and it belches smoke on hard acceleration.

That sounds a bit more comferting as it only started throwing out smoke after the service

Have a really good look at the hose from the turbo, I've seen a few with a little split in them which then causes black smoke, it doesn't
take much.
