Jaguars inability to design cars
here's a few pics of the jag XF
Description
So then, take an audi A4 headlight, turn it upside down, add a hint of bently GT to the mix and you have the new jag headlights, the grille is
blatently a direct copy of the bently and the profile of the doors looks suspiciously simmilar to that of the passat
Now for the back....
Description
Rear lights, a bit simmilar to that of the current mondeo dont you think?
the car on the whole reminds me of this horrendously ugly car....
Description
and i think i would be insulting you all if i were to post pics comparing the XK to the aston
will jag ever design a car themselves in the future??
sorry for the size and the quality of the pics
And you run and you run to catch up with the sun but its sinking, Racing around to come up behind you again, the sun is the same in a relative way but
your older, shorter of breath and one day closer to death

because every other manufacturer is building original design cars at the moment?
my boss picked his XF up last wednesday and let me have a drive, i happen to think it's a beautiful car both to look at and drive.
built a car, built a home, had a family. lost the family, lost the home, still got the car.

I saw one at a show recently. It looks like it was designed to be a mondeo coupe with a generic japanese front. OK for a ford but a bit poor for a
jag.

I like it. I think its one of the best cars they have designed. I agree it does look a bit like a mondeo but Ian Callum's brother designed the
mondeo so there are bound to be some similarities. I bet you would easily be able to tell the difference between them on the road.
i only wish they had used the headlights they had on the c-xf concept
Edit - novacaine - You can do the 'whats copied from other manufacturers' thing with almost every other car on the road.

How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

AS far as I am concered, it just doesn't look like a Jaguar, whatever a Jag is supposed to look like (ie; a sleek, sexy, steel greyhound). This
one looks more like something Chrysler made.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

The problem with those two statements together is that there are bound to be comparisons to the Aston because the Jaguar design team who designed the
XF themselves are headed by the same person responsible for the recent Aston design direction.
And what about the XK, who designed that and where do you think the influence comes from?
All cars have something which can easily be compared to others, and maybe Bentley have a mesh grille like the XF, but so have all XJRs and XKRs plus
MGs and many others. Where do you want to start or stop?

I think it's good it "doesn't look like a Jaguar" - whatever that means.
Jaguar have had a bad rep in the past, and hopefully this will be a complete departure for them.
All cars are looking like someone elses nowadays - I saw a new Impreza last Sunday and thought it was the illegitimate offspring of a Civic and a
Focus.
Imho, the only manufacturer turning out cars that are different from the rest is Renault.

consider the car it replaces, would you really want an updated S-type???
derivative maybe, but thats what you get for being owned by ford
"oh dear..." said god,
"I hadn't thought of that"
and promptly vanishes in a puff of logic
