Hi, been to stalis and stayed in the nikos apartments clean but basic, about 15mins walk to the centre.
Stalis is better if you are going as a family, loads of restaurants/bars we went to malia for a day/night didn't go back as we found it too busy and lively for young children
would definetly go back to stalis as we had a great time, went in september and weather was still hot
have you tried looking up hotels/apartments for reviews on www.holidaysuncovered.co.uk

Hope this helps

thanks anthony, we have now booked the pela sofia appartents. reviews seems good on holidawatchdog, we are going as a young couple, not really interested in partying hard! so wont be spending too much time in malia, stalis sounds really good, hope it turns out to be a nice break. booked for end of june for a week.

thanks

Stayed in stalis a few years back at the hotel blue sea, right on the front att he end of town very nice and top food.

short walk up the road into town towards malia i remember a bar called the robin hood, english lad from bristol really looked after us (pints)

Malia is like blackpol on drugs indian/chinese takeaways and nightclubs, its like a ghost town in the morning

Heading back towards airport there is a nice litle water park the kids/toddlers would like, all walking distance.

day trip to santorini is nice if no kids

Went to Malia a long time ago before we had kids ,was a last minite cheap holiday but had a great time, was quite lively at night but as mentioned a bit dead during the day but theres plenty of local places to visit using the local bus service or by hiring a car.

I went to Malia on a lads holiday a few years ago now, was a laugh if you like that sort of thing (i.e. being drunk in a dirty hole). I really wouldn't go in to town if you intend to spend any time sober, the tiny little beach is always packed with passed-out clubbers till about 2pm, there's hardly anything in the town centre but bars, and it smells a bit. Think Agia Napa but less classy

I've been to crete, very bright as everythings painted white. Lovely sea food, masses of it. We were woken up by an earthquake! Much nicer in the evening when things cool down.
