Modern engines/turbos
I'm wanting to read up on modern engines/ECUs and the sensors and things that go with it. I'm used to carbs and dizzys so I want to read
up & learn. Any good books, websites etc that you can recommend?
Do all twin turbo cars have 2 intercoolers? I was looking at a diagram today where the air goes from the turbos to 2 intercoolers then come together
at the inlet plenum. Why doesn't the output from the turbos go together into one bigger intercooler and then the inlet plenum? or is that the
case on some cars? ^__^

Corky Bell's Maximum boost
and
Graham Bell's Forced Induction Tuning are good from a turbo point of view
Dave Walkers Haynes ECU book is good (if a little bit Emerald specific)...

Presumably if you were using a parallel twin turbo you could have a single bigger intercooler.
If you had a sequential set-up you might want to have seperate intercoolers otherwise wouldn't the resistance of the intercooler cause one turbo
to put back-pressure on the other???? Might not though...

A mate is tubocharging his 7.68 litre pro-street capri (road legal!)and has one mahoosive? intercooler across the front of the rad, it has a
3" inlet on either side and a f*cking 5" outlet to eqaully large plenum, he is also adding fuel inj to the set up. Dave walker (emerald)
didn't want to know, when he asked about ecu's-Mind you he did say it will be around 1200 bhp at 12lbs of boost!!
I went for the kms ecu set up for my R1 turbo- sensor wise i've got air temp, water temp, crank trigger, map sensor, throttle position, boost
control &wide band lambda
If it doesn't fit MODIFY it!!

dpends on some cars , if theres two different turbos , intercoolers could be sized for flow accordingly .
it also could be packaging - note teh air filters are taking air from in front of teh intercooler , not a good idea

I did read something recently, I think in PPC, that two small intercoolers are more efficient than one big one, so that could be the reasoning for
having two.

There is lag to consider as well.
One massive intercooler may create more lag than two smaller ones...
