Ipod Touch
Just a note to big up what I think is a great product. I just bought a 16Gig Ipod touch and I am so glad i decided to instead of going with a regular
ipod.
Also the it was marked up incorrectly in the shop and I got it for $340!! I think they are about £280 in the UK aren't they?
It utilises a wifi internet connection to enable you to directly buy itunes music, check email, surf and watch youtube, it has a special app for
this.
The only things it can't do is pick up internet radio streams like radio 1 (i live in the states, and i miss it) and instant messenger. Though
these things are apparently in the pipeline either through updates or cracks

I use a pda. Does everything the ipod touch does but is completely unrestricted to do anything else you want it to do as well, and it will take
memory cards and bluetooth accessories etc. To be fair it's not as sexy/trendy/cool though and does make you look a total dateless wonder.

Here's radio 1 for you. You can even record it somehow, but I've never figured out how. Some you can get on podcast (Huw Stephens'
new bands etc). You can even get that awful Moyles person to listen to on the way to work in the morning if you get his podcast!

I love the Ipod Touch - unfortunately (?) my Ipod classic is still going strong so no excuse to get one - yet!
Is it just me or is Moyles the most irritating and obnoxious bloke on the Radio?

Who is this super hero? Sarge? ...No.
Rosemary, the telephone operator? ...No.
Penry, the mild-mannered janitor? ...Could be!

Much as I am a macophile I can't persuade myself that either the iPhone or iPd touch are worth the change over yet. My PDA/phone is a Treo 650.
I have ben using it for yonks and it currently does music&video with an excellent free player called TCPMP does satnav with TomTom, has a
reasonable web browser good email, google maps, can work with PDF word and excel documents, handy when people attach these to emails. It also has a
vault ap to keep all my passwords synchronises full address book and diary with the office and even has a theatre lighting controller application that
I use occasionally for work. Oh it also has a full keyboard and does NOT run windows CE so is reliable! It is a lot to replace adn iPhone just
doesn't make it!

Ive just got myself an HTC Touch, which is a WM6 device, but has a kind of Iphone-esque interface you can use.
I was seriously considering an Iphone, but for the price you pay they dont do everything that i wanted to be able to do, so i got the HTC Touch
instead

i got a basic 4gig ipod just before christmas. Best toy ive bought in a long time. Love it. I stopped listening to music a hile back and this has
allowed me back in.
Also bought zegnasport i-jacket, docking station and radio trasmitter jobbie. No excuse to ever be without some vibes.
Only downer is earphones not loud enough to use in the ZR and 4gig isnt big enough.

I've got an LG viewty phone. With a 4Gb memory card, its not as good as an itouch but its got the same touch screen functionality, is smaller
and is of course, a phone. Good compromise My ipod video now lives in the car
Wonderous is our great blue ship that sails around the mighty sun, and joy to everyone that rides along!

in the end I went for an xda stellar having tried both the n95 and the i-phone for a week each (borrowed from friends), totally blows the pair of them
away and is really a mini windows based computer with a proper pull out keyboard and touch screen. Utterly delighted with it
I found the i-pods laughable download speed almost imposable to cope with and it would not download when moving in the car. The n95's lack of
touch screen or a proper keyboard made me so pi$$ed off I felt like snapping it in halve

admit it your just a technophobe
I taught my mum how to use my old nano i-pod. Once she got to grips with it she was just stunned at what she had been missing out on. Now all her
tapes/cds are on it and also backed up off course on the computer.
Go get one and you'll never regret it

with the iPhone now reduced to £160... couldn't you just buy this and use it as the iTouch, or are the iTouch coming down to less than that now?

That was the question - do you have to actually activate the phone to be able to use the ipod functions? (you don't sign up to contract when
buying an iPhone in the same way you do with a normal mobile)
If you do have to activate it to use the ipod functions then a jailbreak will sort that out in less than 2 minutes at a PC anyway, was more a question
of with the reduction in price of iPhones, are iTouches about to follow.

I am not sure you can get one without a contract with O2 in the UK, though I might be wrong.

You can, you can walk into any apple, O2 or CPW store and buy them, in fact it's the only way to get one in the UK. Once purchased you then go
home, connect to the internet and are supposed to "activate it" through t'internet. (which is when the contract is set up)
