Anyone live in Hemel who can help with a Paypal dispute
GRRRR just wrote a massive post then accidentally hit backspace and lost the lot. So this is a much shorted rant.
Paypal dispute that as you can see from the log below has never been resolved. BMW CD OEM MP3 head unit (£160) and the fact I sent it to his
registered address but he never claimed it so came back to me and tracking info deemed invalid (nice loophole Paypal) then returned the address he
sent me via email just after I'd sent it to the reg address and got a signature this time but Paypal won't take that either cos its not to
his reg address. Repeat this loop about 10 times and you have what you see below (even after speaking to a real person and making them understand and
agree that I'd right and due a refund - but they still had to refer it elsewhere and couldn't guarantee the outcome).
Anyway just need someone to check out the address he gave me before I was more good money after bad in driving down the M1 to Hemel (not that far).
I'm not stupid am planning to persuade him with physical force (although it tempting).

Ohhhh I'm having a premonition...
a fight will ensue
Can’t you use Google maps with satellite view? wind him up by mentioning something about his house like - 'oh nice shed...' he'll
think your stalking him

So he claimed he never got it despite signing for it - then claimed the money back through Paypal who refunded him and took it off you???
If someone does go down there - check his car for the head unit!!

Sorry I made a better job of explaining it the first time around (before hitting backspace after changing the focus of the cursor by knocking this
damn touch pad).
I bought the unit from him, it was DOA (he'd left a CD in it and wouldn't come out or even play just made really bad klonking noises) it
wasn't properly packed (literally just in a box no bigger than the unit without any padding) and some of the rear connectors were bent.
So he's got the unit back AND my money (plus I've wasted another 2x £8 sending it back).
I did speak to someone at Paypal twice (once some bloke in India who it took an age to explain it to and the second time a nice sounding Irish girl
who agreed I was right and it wasn't my fault but it wasn't down to her to make the decision.
I'm going to have one last try with Paypal and see if I can speak to a supervisor (hopefully not in India) as this is effectively a massive loop
hole.
Sell and load of broken gear and when it comes back never sign for it, after 2 weeks it comes back to the sender/buyer and their tracking info is
deemed invalid and the case automatically goes in favour of the dodgy seller.
It was the amount of semi-automated replies I got that just said "claim outcome not in your favour - invalid tracking" OR "claim
outcome not in your favour - tracking is valid but not to his registered address".
Its not my fault he didn't update his registered address but its part of their buyer protection policy that it MUST go back of his registered
address even if its no fecking use cos it won't get signed for.
Maybe I should call Nicky Campbell from Watchdog, no hang on whats the name of that bird who co-presents with him?

I'm assuming you have PayPal linked to your bank or credit card.
Get your credit card/disputes section at the bank to handle it. If they are satisfied you're in the right, I'm pretty sure they have the
power to 'chargeback' Paypal. It may take a while but not as frustrating as your current process

Paypal is sh*t, here is what happend to me,
Sold laptop and got paid by paypal, you know the safe secure way, the guy then collected it, no problem as i have done the same on many occasions, now
1(one) month later paypal reversed the payment so i lost the laptop and the £700 he paid me for it and i didn't have a leg to stand on with
buyer protection because of paypals postage/tracking rules.
Some one said on a different thread that ebay our going to make using paypal compulsary if they do i won't use ebay again, here's a link
to show how good paypal is, even one of their top men said the buyer protection scheme is impossible to claim from, http://www.paypalsucks.org/

I went through the same thing with paypal a while ago, £100 for a TV that I never received, but paypal wouldn't refund the cash.
Learnt then that almost everyone who's been through it uses a credit card linked to their paypal. That way your c/c company deal with paypal
directly to refund the money, and you don't have to wait to get the cash back!
Good luck in getting some of it back

I know this is a lot of money, but I would write it off as a bad experience. I am in the process of accepting that a phone I paid for not that long
ago (which was a pile o shite) and returned, will never actually be refunded. Mental health has to be considered too.
I've had lots of very good experiences too; most of my car's parts came off EBay.

I already wrote off ~£500 a couple of years ago buying something from someone in the states who kept in contact (and stringing me along - stock coming
soon etc) just long enough for it to be too long for Paypal and my credit card company to both declare they couldn't do anything as too much
time had passed.
I thought I'd be ok with this one as opened a dispute straight away, bit of an initial hiccup but optimistically (perhaps stupidly) thought it
would come good.
The really annoying thing is that I sent it back again to his real address after it was returned to me the first time.
I probably could have repaired it (in fact I managed to get it to load and play CD's but the mech was still a bit buggered so it wouldn't
eject) but I thought to myself - why am I wasting my time fixing something thats not as described (mint, perfect working order) when I'd paid
top dollar for it. I could have fixed it and accepted it but then had problems in a few months time so I thought the best option was to send it
back.
Now faced with potentially loosing my money (don't worry I've not given up yet!) I sometimes think I should have kept it and tried harder
to fix it.
I should have trusted my gut instinct when I read some of his replies to my questions - initially he listed it with cheque as only payment method and
I wouldn't touch it. I asked him to list it with Paypal (so I'd be protected!!! ha ha) and I thought I'd be safe...
The annoying thing is that its the genuine buyers and sellers that seem to get shat on.
I've had people screw money out of me with Paypal when selling (claiming it never arrived) and now twice (at least) when buying.
