pug 306 engine fault

We have a problem with our engine, it's a 2.0 l 16v on an R reg, occasionally the engine just dies as if the fuel is being starved, does it when stopped and when moving no pattern to it at all, i have checked the head gasket which appears to be fine, crank sensor and throttle switch are ok, i have changed the fuel filter and cleaned the throttle body, but still happening, sometimes it will ok for a few days and then it will do it 2 or 3 times a days, any ideas would be greatly recieved thanks Richard

Drifts around hen blocks the pickup, car stops, turn engine off pressue falls and releases he lump ready for next time.

Is it fuel level related?

Fuel pump /relay? Are you getting fuel through when it plays up? Have you got a spark?
