Holiday issues help
Hi my girfriend and I had paid up fully for a first choice 5 star holiday in turkey with loads of extras on top like sea view, pool side etc. First
choice have now sent as a letter saying due to an admin error they need to move us and we need to sign this form for concent to change it. What can we
do about this as for us its a fairly expensive £1300 week in turkey. We dont want to end up in a position where we loose out so what rights do we have
and where do we stand?
Cheers
Adam

I don't think I'd rush to sign that, first I'd talk to a solicitor who can look through the contract to make sure you are getting
the best deal. That is quite a lot of money and worth the effort.

I wouldnt sign anything without knowing where exactly they are moving you to. Its got to be at minimum equivalent or (if they care about customer
service) better. Find out what they are offering and kick up a stink about it. They already admitted their error so if i'd be looking for what
compensation they are offering even if its a supposedly better holiday they are offering.
Give them a call. At least then you know what exactly your position is in order to take further action of whichever sort. You might even be happy with
what they offer - you never know

It very much depends on the small print in the contract but it would seem very reasonable to reply saying
"no thanks, I'd like a full refund then please"
IE don't give consent!!

Not signed anything yet but they have offered another similar hotel under the same management which is not in their brochure or online so we cannot
even check the price or room options. First choice have said they didnt even think we had upgraded which made my gf even more mad as it was a £200+
increase(room jacuzzi, seperate pool, sea view - snobby but after 3 years in a degree we wanted a proper luxury holiday) so we are unsure what we are
getting in this new deal. The in room jacuzzi will be missed but Im thinking the full refund personally. I understand problems happen but 3 weeks
before my holiday and the way my gf's been talked to on the phone id rather try someone else. Thing is we might now have to pay more as its so
near the time we wanted to go. With a full refund do i have any right to compensation?
Thanks again

We had problems with first choice, promised sea view etc at a 4 star+ resort. We got a 2 star room only way we could see the sea was to lean out and
look round the dividing wall where a small triangle of the sea could be seen over the top of the main hotel and restaurant. The bed was broken and the
bathroom constantly flooded when the shower was used. After complaining to first choice we received a letter saying that we had received exactly what
we paid for. I was not happy. We now travel with Thomson and have found them very accurate in their descriptions and good service. I also like the
section in the back of the brochure that states "If you are not happy within the first 24 hours with your holiday give us 24 hours to sort it
out. If we can,t to your satisfaction we will at your request fly you home and give you all of your money back " (from the faraway shores
brochure). I would ask for your money back then go to a different travel agent and try to find a similar late availability holiday. Not 5 star but our
upcoming holiday has gone down to £530 from £760 with 2 weeks to departure. (3 star all inclusive to the dominican republic)
