gloworm 30cxi leak

we've got a gloworm 30cxi boiler in our student house. some time in the night, it's developed a leak somewhere inside that's tracking back down and dripping off what appears to be the main cold incoming supply pipe.

we've got our last exam on tuesday so i'm thinking if we can leave it til then, before we inform the landlord, it'll save us being disturbed by plumbers or even being without hot water if for some reason it needs shutting down.

what i really want to know is is it dripping because something's about to fail catastrophically? it's a fairly constant drip every maybe half second but only little drips at the minute. it has speeded up very slightly since first thing this morning though.
it'd be more convenient to leave it and sort it after exams, but if it's going to flood half the house in the night, it's maybe worth doing something about it now.

TIA
tom

Whats the system pressure on the front?

If its dropping then the leaks on the heating circuit side.

If its high then expansion vessel on the back might require pumping up, and the waters dripping from the safety vavle this is most likely to happen when its hot.

If its on the heating side then it can only drip or leak till it looses all the system pressure, if its on the mains inlet or the hot water outlet side then it can leak and leak and leak lol.

Am afraid that'll be the last help from me because i'm about to go out.. but there questions other people would probably need answaering as well, Good luck with the exams!

the system pressure normally, i say normally, i've maybe looked at it 5 or 6 times previous to this event is 1.3 bar. this morning, it was 1.3 bar, earlier, it was 1.6, now it's 1.4 bar.

the drips are cold and it's dripping merrily now the boiler's off with no demand from either central heating or taps.

i think the collection vessel'll last us through the night without it brimming over anyway

Ours was leaking as well just like yours (not the same boiler though). It was coming through the spindle of the divertor valve. Not a lot but enough to need sorting. It lasted for a few days before I managed to get to it.

If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

well the plumber came to fix it today and from what i can see, it was a knackered o ring and he also mentioned a leak on a hoooj black platic manifold block type thing on the back of the pump.

took him about 4 hours to get it all to bits and back together and water tight again though. access is a bitch because it's in a cupboard type thing next to the toilet. he was the one that fitted it though so he only has himself to blame
